FROM IAN SEVERN
Now that the Chairman of HPUG has relinquished the job of giving his worldly views on the IT industry, it is now down to the Admin Group to review what is going on in the HPUG World.
E-PING
We have recently asked the HP Users via Survey for views on how to improve our communications to you through E-PING - our Technical Journal. First of all we hope that it will appear more frequently, we hope it will be more topical and have more current information. Now this is where you can help us - if you find a snippet of useful technical information that you think other Users need to share then you can send this to PING@hpug.org.uk for our Editor to consider using.
THE BIG SIG
One of the advantages of being involved with a wider sphere of influence is that we can try to run things differently. For the first time we are running what we are calling a "BIG SIG" - on 3rd December 2009. This all day meeting is being run at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall, London. HP and "Connect" are sponsoring this exhibition and conference. At the moment we are working with BITUG to produce the Agenda which will have a strong BCS / Non-Stop / Storage / Virtualisation theme throughout the day. There will be no charge for this event and we hope to have 150 attendees. Please put the date in your diary now.
HP LABS Meeting
We are also working with HP Labs to promote an event in Bristol in 2010, so that you can be more aware of the R&D that goes on into the future of IT - remember HP leads the world with many patents as it continues with its inventions.
THE EGM (6th August 09)
Thank you for your support in approving the amendments to our Articles of Memorandum which allows us to trade as the HP User Group in the UK.
